Which Laptop you should choose to buy MacBook Pro (15-Inch) vs. Dell XPS 15

There are many great laptops on the market, all competing for consumers’ attention. The MacBook Pro (2016), and the Dell XPS 15 (2017) are two devices that have been a hit with buyers.

Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, which integrates Touch ID, as well as the Dell XPS 15 (which the company claims is the world’s smallest 15.6 inch laptop), are vying for consumers’ attention.

This comparison will help you choose which laptop to buy.

Processor

The quad-core i5-7300HQ processor is housed in the Dell XPS 15. The MacBook Pro, on the other hand, houses a quad core Intel Core i7 processor with Turbo Boost.

The MacBook processor is the clear winner over both devices, as it has a core processor i7 that’s faster than the core processor i5 on the Dell laptop.

The MacBook Pro comes with 16GB RAM and the Dell laptop has 8GB. Dell allows users to increase this RAM to 32 GB.

This clearly shows that the Dell laptop is the better choice. Apple’s 16GB RAM limit on its laptop has been criticized by consumers. Professionals may not find the MacBook Pro useful because it lacks sufficient RAM.

Display

Retina displays are available on the MacBook Pro’s 15.4 inch display. It has a resolution 2,880 x 1,800 pixels. Apple claims that this display is 67% brighter than older models and consumes 30% less energy.

The Dell XPS 15’s top-end model boasts a 15.6-inch Ultra HD InfinityEdge display measuring 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. This is slightly larger than the Apple laptop.

Storage

The MacBook Pro comes in 256 GB and 512 GB SSD options. The top-of-the-line Dell XPS 15 is available with 256 GB SSD.

Bluetooth, OS, Battery and Camera

The XPS 15 top-end model, which runs on Windows 10, has a 97 watt-hour-battery. However, the battery’s support is unknown.

Apple claims that the MacBook Pro’s battery of 76 watts can last 10 hours. Pre-loaded on the Apple laptop is macOS Sierra.

The MacBook Pro features a 720p HD camera while the XPS 15 has a Widescreen HD 720p Webcam.

Bluetooth 4.2 is supported by the Apple laptop, while Bluetooth 4.1 is available on the Dell laptop.

Price

The top-end XPS 15 comes in a single color and is priced at $1599. The MacBook Pro starts at $2499. The Apple laptop comes in Space Gray or Silver.

Apple has received a lot of complaints from MacBook Pro owners about battery drain issues. The device also offers very little storage. The 2017 Dell XPS 15 is a better choice, as it has more storage if you choose to use the expandable option.

Although the Apple laptop might have a faster processor, it may not be as powerful as the Dell model. The Dell laptop is cheaper in terms of pricing.

It all boils down ultimately to consumer preferences and what they desire from a laptop. This will impact their purchasing decisions.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The XPS 15’s keyboard and trackpad are excellent. The keys feel responsive and provide a good depth. They also give a crisp, clear feedback. The laptop is also designed by Dell so that it has a matte matte finish. This makes it easy to place your fingers on the trackpad.

The MacBook Pro, on the other hand, has a Touch Bar that is quite different from older Apple laptops. It allows users to engage in many activities like PacMan.
